We employ two main methods of stone cleaning, the DOFF steam cleaning system for the removal of vegetation, spores and the like and in conjunction with a softener for paint removal.
We also use the TORC system in conjunction with an aggregate to remove staining and more stubborn paint and graffiti, the aggregate used being dolomite and calcite based is of sufficient strength to remove the staining and paint but without damaging the stone below.
Any cleaning or paint removal will require a sample panel to be undertaken to determine the best methodology to be adopted
Andrew PK Wright“The A-listed façade of William Leiper’s design for the Academy and Town Halls, all that was left of a building that had suffered the ravages of two major fires and decades of neglect, posed every conservation challenge imaginable in bringing the structure back into use. The team from Conservation Masonry rose to the task. Adopting a cautious approach and demonstrating a wide range of skills, its appearance within the historic townscape of Dumbarton has been transformed.”
